Laserforms to Insight Legal Data Migration

If you have software from Laserforms, we are able to provide a complete data migration to the Insight Legal System.

As the name suggests, Laserforms originally produced legal forms for laser printers. In the early 2000s, Laserforms also started producing legal accounts and practice management systems. These systems were targeted at the ten to 150 user-sized practices, although they certainly had more success at the bottom end of this range. The systems would utilise either Microsoft Access or SQL Server as the data store. The Laserforms company was acquired by CS Group in 2006. CS group were subsequently taken over by IRIS Legal, which was in turn taken over by Advanced Computer Software Group.

We have performed a number of highly successful data conversions from the Laserforms products and would be happy to put you in touch with a number of our users who previously used Laserforms.

We would recommend a trial run of data conversion is performed prior to the live Laserforms migration.

A trial run gives us the opportunity to make sure the data is similar to previous Laserforms conversions that we have completed and gives you the chance to see how your data looks once converted to Insight Legal.  If required, we can tailor any data transitions required as part of the trial run. For instance, if you wanted to change around the matter types and departments or re-configure the chart of accounts, we can do this as part of the trial and live conversion. This means that you are starting fresh with a set of data that meets your needs.

A conversion from Laserforms  typically will include all of the following data;

  • Clients
  • Matters
  • Matter Types
  • Banks
  • Fee Earners
  • Accounting Periods
  • VAT Rates
  • Client/Matter Ledgers
  • Time Recording
  • Nominal Ledgers
  • Nominal Ledger Transactions
  • VAT Opening Balance
  • Bank Transactions

A live conversion from Laserforms usually takes two to three days to complete. During this time, we can install Insight Legal Software and train you and your staff. The training can take place on the trial run conversion data so your staff can see how the system will perform using your own data.

When you’re dealing with the experts, it doesn’t have to be expensive and it doesn’t need to be a hassle.
