Initially the target was to cover the distance of 1085 miles over 80 days, raising £1 per mile.
The Insight Team of 23 smashed that target by day 38 and so we turned around a came back again!
It was such a great virtual team-building event for the team to take part in; some doing a few miles a week and some doing many miles a day. Getting motivated to just going for a walk during the Winter 2020/21 Lockdown was not easy – but as a team we encouraged each other that the exercise would be great for our mental health (whilst our social activities were restricted) and that we’d always feeling better for doing it! … more often than not that was the case.
When we contacted Challengers with the news there were some fund-raising monies on the way to them, Becky Cox Partnership Manager replied;
“What a fantastic surprise! This sounds like a super challenge and we are so grateful for your support. Thank you very much for taking on this epic challenge!”
Well done everyone for taking part; 2,170 miles covered in 80 days and £1085 donated. Your medals can be worn with pride.
Watch this space for our next Challenge for Challengers…
Based in Guildford, Surrey, Challengers believe that play is vital to every child’s happiness and development, but sadly there are many barriers which mean that disabled children are excluded and miss out on play every day.
At Challengers, they break down these barriers for disabled children and young people by providing fun, safe and fully inclusive play and leisure schemes that everyone can enjoy.
