Like any expanding business, DV Solicitors craved an off-site hosted electronic system – in this case, legal accounts and practice management software – when it spread across the counties of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire so that every employee had the same access to information, regardless of location, both inside and outside of the office.
Functionality, cloud installation and cost were the propelling forces. After researching the market, Insight Legal Software was the obvious supplier.
The Law Firm
DV Solicitors is a multi-site, full-service law firm with Bedford headquarters and branch offices located in Luton and Cambridge.
The practice is committed to delivering bestquality level services using innovative and cost-effective methods. Practice management and legal accounts software is a key component of DV Solicitors’ proactive, results-focused approach.
For many reasons – cloud set-up and cost amongst them – DV Solicitors uses Insight Legal Software.
When Asad Rana, Partner, formed DV Solicitors in 2012, he masterminded a system upgrade project involving a move to a fully computerised set-up to support continued business growth and provide a better interface between their three far-flung premises.
Asad explains: “After branching out from what was, originally, a sole practitioner firm, we needed to introduce true electronic working to operate more efficiently.
“Manual tasks are, by their very nature, longer to perform as they necessitate physically moving around the office. This is even more time consuming when more than one office is involved, as in our case. And, our employees had to be in Bedford to get hold of documents stored on our server.
“Together with the other Partners, I decided to look for cloud-hosted legal accounts and practice management but, as a maturing business, capital was limited. Therefore, not only were functionality and delivery of the chosen application important considerations; so too was cost. With these exacting demands in mind, we began our search.”
DV Solicitors’ research unearthed substantial one-off implementation fees from the majority of legal software suppliers. In opposition to this industry norm, Insight Legal Software charges on a per-user basis with a nominal amount for installation, data transfer and training.
Asad continues: “Insight was so unlike competitive providers, both in terms of usability and pricing.
“It’s a cloud-operated system which means nothing’s stored as printed files or on local servers, and it’s got all the features we need for the many practice roles.
“Of course, for us, our migration to Insight was a cost-driven decision too. Alternative suppliers didn’t come anywhere near on cost.”
With a subscription to Insight Legal Software’s legal accounts and practice management system, DV Solicitors became cloud-operated, charged on a SaaS model.
Asad concludes: “The cloud gives us remote access to our matters and finances so everything’s centralised and staff at our three offices have instant access to up-to date records.
“Other aspects are also performed remotely, namely updates – which are regular – and training – which is carried out via internet and phone. The whole switchover and ongoing maintenance are so easy because of this.
“Insight’s technical helpline is especially advantageous to us. We’re often in contact for queries relating to matter reports, reconciliations and so forth. These support services give us huge reassurance. If we experience any hiccups, we simply pick up the phone and Insight will sort.
“The move to Insight’s led to significant time savings and efficiency improvements without impacting greatly on our overheads. The cloud’s the way forward. Law firms who haven’t yet explored the cloud’s possibilities should do so. We heartily recommend Insight Legal Software for the job.”
